Security Lighting for the Home

Security lights are the perfect way to add light to the exterior of the home, especially during the darker months. These lights can be installed anywhere to create a safer outdoor space, welcome guests and deter any possible intruders. As well as this, security lights can also help with lighting up paths and driveways.

Floodlights are a popular choice for use as security lights as they give off a widespread light, making them ideal for illuminating gardens and driveways. Floodlights can come both with and without PIR sensors, making them ideal security lights as the bright light could deter any unwanted guests. Most flood lights, like the Compact Floodlight with PIR Sensor, are wall mounted and adjustable so the light can be directed to where it is needed.

Some security lights can also include PIR sensors, such as the Elipta Kensington PIR Outdoor Wall Light. PIR lights are more energy efficient than standard security lights as they only illuminate when nearby motion is detected. The timing settings for these lights can also be adjusted to lengthen or shorten the time period the light is on for once motion is detected.

At Lighting for Gardens, we also have a selection of PIR sensors that can be attached and linked to more decorative outdoor lights, such as the Elipta Compact Twin Outdoor Wall Spotlight or Elipta Pole Spot Solo Outdoor Spotlight. By using these PIR sensors, this allows existing garden lights to be used as security lights too.

We also have a range of Light Symphony products which allows outdoor lights to be managed using a remote control system or smart phone. This means that some lights can be switched on from anywhere, helping to increase the security of your home even when you’re not home. Read more about the Light Symphony range here.
