Deciding on Which Path Lighting to Buy

With so many great lighting products available on the market it can be difficult to decide which solutions to buy for your garden project. One of the most important aspects to get right is path lighting because they’re the lights that stand out like no other. But what exactly is a good path light and which ones will adhere to your needs? To answer that question, we need to look at the different types available.

Which Type of Path Light Fits your needs?

Directional: features a light emitting head which can be pointed in the direction you desire.  With the head being at the top of a post on a swivel, it means you have greater control over where the light is going to shine whilst also helping to reduce glare and create a nicer ambiance.

Traditional: coming in a range of different shapes, the traditional path light is a classic. They’re available in different styles and shapes to suit any taste. Their sleek aesthetic provides clean lines and together with engaging curves, ensures a timeless look that will complement garden landscapes for a number of years.

Recessed Spotlights: they’re unobtrusive, safe and give off a beautiful ambient light that’s great for mood setting whether it’s a party or when you want to relax. Recessed lights are also great at complementing other lights, so even when used sparingly they can have a positive impact on the environment they’re in.

Bollard: ideal for both pathways and driveways, they’re an excellent source of functional light and provide glare free lighting wherever it’s needed.

Spreadlights: perfect when a soft pool of light is required along paths or steps and around terraces, drives and lawns. The ‘hat’ feature of these lights prevents an upward glare which allows light to focus downwards and add to the effect. Spreadlights are usually 12 volts so they’re small enough to hide under the hat.

Consider the Landscape you’re Buying for

When deciding on which path lighting to buy it’s important to think about the size of the landscape and path being illuminated. The size of lighting fixtures should fit in with the surrounding it’s placed in, for example, smaller lights will work well in small garden settings. If you were to be lighting a wide path, you’d want to use a taller path light that’s proficient in casting light further in a larger diameter.

It’s also important to consider style and think about what will work well for the setting you’re buying for. A modern home will need modern looking fixtures, as an example. So, when it comes to buying path lighting it’s imperative to determine the style, size and environment.
